The 100-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (2015) – 4/5

As absurd as its title, The 100-Year Old Man is nothing more than a series of ludicrous events, each more unreasonable than the previous one… So it is quite a surprise that I found this movie extremely entertaining and enjoyable. Director Felix Herngren brings to life an original and unique story about a 100-year old man who decides to go out, have an adventure, and mess with the world once again, along the way.

With the appearance of charismatic actors, including protagonist Robert Gustafsson, the movie becomes amusing right away. We are taken from the past to the present life of this man constantly, admiring not only the witty, but brilliant and imaginative history lesson.  The passing of time became even for distinctive and real thanks to the make-up done in Robert Gustafsson. It was impressive, to say the least, to see someone physically change through a movie in such a realistic way.

More than a movie, The 100-year old man, is a lighthearted and ridiculous trip down world-history lane. While the film might not be for everyone since it is incredibly absurd and even foolish, it is worthwhile and unique in every aspect. From its charming actors to the amazing make-up, it has definitely gone above and beyond my expectations.
